COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

When we moved to New York in 2002 for jobs in the corporate sector, we never intended to stay in the city for more than a few years. But God had different plans, better ones than we ever could have imagined! In 2005, God called us to put down roots - serving with Cru's ministry to the poor, Here's Life Inner City, and moving into the community of Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Poverty is particularly acute in cities like New York and we are committed to living our lives amongst what the Bible calls "the least of these." It has been a tremendous blessing for us to raise our children in Crown Heights, an economically distressed community with a large immigrant population from the Caribbean.

We will continue to serve in Crown Heights in a variety of ways. Matt will hire young men from the community for summer internships that include job experience as well mentoring and discipleship. Anna will continue to serve young moms. And we continue to seek God's leading regarding the planting of a new church here.
