ABOUT US
We met in Richmond, Virginia through a bible study at West End Presbyterian Church and were married in 2002. The same week as our wedding, we moved to New York for Matt’s job in the corporate sector, thinking it would be a temporary “adventure” for us as a newly married couple. We were convinced that we would move back to Richmond after a few years to buy a home and start a family. God had other plans for us, though; wonderful plans that we never could have imagined!
In 2004, God called Matt to leave the corporate world to develop a program to bridge the “digital divide” in technology that exists between those living in affluent communities and those in under-resourced inner-city ones. Drawing on his experience working in the technology industry in Virginia, his passion is to make sure that inner-city kids have access to the same computer training as more affluent kids because computer skills are critical to securing employment today and to breaking out of the cycle of poverty. At the same time, the program enables the church to minister to individuals’ spiritual needs.
Anna, whose professional background is in public affairs and communications, has long desired to be involved in Christian Community Development and to move into the inner-city. After spending a summer at an inner-city home for kids during her college years, God has developed in her a heart to use the professional skills she has gained to advance God’s work in New York City.
In addition to doing ministry in these communities, God has put in our hearts a desire to live amongst those we serve. Therefore, we live in a largely under-resourced community in Brooklyn called Crown Heights.
